District 5B Committeeman
Brothers and Sisters,
My name is Aaron McAlister, and I am proud to run for District Committee Representative for District 5B, representing the Trim Shop, IP Line and adjoining Kit Cells, Door Line and adjoining Kit Cells, Body Shop Production, Weld Group, Metal Finish, and Body Fit.
I have been a UAW member since 2012, with seniority dating to 2016, and I am a third-generation UAW member who understands the value of solidarity, experience, and protecting what generations before us fought to secure.
I bring extensive union experience to this position. I have served on the Education Committee from 2019–2023, helping develop the curriculum for the classes used today and launching the “598 and You” program for our membership. I have also served on the Strike Committee, 3rd String Committee Representative, Alternate Committee Representative, and currently as a District Committee Representative.
My training includes the Wayne State University Labor School, Advanced Labor Leadership program, Region 1D UAW Leadership Training Institute, University of Michigan steward and committee training programs, collective bargaining coursework, grievance handling, contract language, FMLA, labor law and arbitration, UAW Bargaining Boot Camp, and Contract Enforcement Boot Camp. This training has strengthened my ability to represent members effectively and enforce our contract.
The shop-floor issue I care most about is bridging the divide between higher-seniority and lower-seniority workers, building unity across generations so we can stand stronger together as one union.
If elected, I will continue working to protect our contract, strengthen solidarity, and ensure every member in District 5B has strong, knowledgeable representation.
I respectfully ask for your support and your vote. In Solidarity, Aaron McAlister
