District 5A Committeeman
Brothers and Sisters,
My name is Brian Shick, and I am asking for your support for election as District Committee for District 5A, representing Trim South Door Line, I.P. Line, Kit Cells, and Body Shop. I have been a proud UAW member since June 2003 and have worked across multiple GM facilities, including Flint Truck, Flint Stamping, and LDT, bringing over two decades of experience on the shop floor.
I come from a strong union family background. My grandfather worked at Chevrolet in Plant 4, my father worked at Flint Truck for 32 years before retiring in 2006, and my stepmother worked at Flint Truck for 30 years before retiring in 2003. The values of solidarity, hard work, and standing up for working families have been part of my life from an early age.
I have served the membership as both an Alternate Committee member for two years and as a District Committee member for six years. During that time, I have worked to address concerns, represent members fairly, and uphold the contract. I have also completed extensive union training, including Union Awareness, Bargaining classes, and Labor Law and Arbitration courses.
The issues I care most about on the shop floor are proper manpower levels, ensuring management follows the contract, and getting more members actively involved in the union. I believe a strong, informed membership is essential to protecting our rights and improving working conditions.
Outside of work, I enjoy snowmobiling, riding quads, and baseball. I am also active in union-supported community service, volunteering as a UAW ramp builder and helping with the UAW car show.
I believe our union is strongest when we stand united. If elected, I will serve District 5A with honesty, accountability, and dedication, working to ensure every member is treated fairly and has a voice.
Thank you for your consideration and your support. In Solidarity, Brian Shick
