Brothers and Sisters,

My name is Joe Dontje, and I am asking for your support for election as Shop-At-Large Committee. I have been a proud UAW member since 2007 and come from a strong third-generation union family, where the values of solidarity, hard work, and standing up for one another were instilled in me from an early age.

Throughout my time on the shop floor, I have remained actively involved in representing our membership. I have served as an Alternate District Committee member, District Committee member, District Shop Committee member, and Shop Committee member, gaining valuable experience in addressing workplace concerns and advocating for fair treatment for all members. I have also participated in numerous union training courses, including programs at Black Lake, to strengthen my knowledge of the contract and improve my ability to serve the membership effectively.

The issues I care most about on the shop floor are making sure members are treated fairly, protected by the contract, and have a strong voice when concerns arise. I believe every member deserves respect, accountability from management, and representation that will stand firm when it matters most.

Outside of work, I am deeply involved in the community. I serve as a softball coach and an Executive Board member for Grand Blanc Little League, helping to support youth development and local families. I have also volunteered at numerous charitable events, giving back to the community that has supported our union families for generations.

I believe our union is strongest when we stand together. If elected, I will serve the membership with honesty, dedication, and a commitment to fairness, working to ensure every member’s concerns are heard and addressed.

Thank you for your consideration and your support. In Solidarity, Joe Dontje
