Brothers and Sisters,
My name is Nick DeKalita, also known to many as "St. Nick," and I am asking for your support for election as Shop-at-Large Representative, serving all departments site-wide. I have been a proud UAW member since November 3, 2003, with 22 years of service with General Motors, including 20 years at Flint Assembly and 19 months at Lansing.
Throughout my career, I have had the honor of serving in several union roles, including Alternate Committee Representative, District Committee Representative, District Shop Representative, and Shop-at-Large Representative. These experiences have given me a broad understanding of plant operations and the issues facing members across all areas.
I have completed training in grievance handling, diversity training, and law and arbitration, strengthening my ability to advocate for members and resolve workplace concerns effectively. My philosophy is simple: if it's an issue to you, it matters to me.
Coworkers describe me as having a huge heart, being funny, and approachable — qualities I believe are essential for someone members can trust and feel comfortable coming to for help.
Beyond my work at the plant, I actively contribute to the community. I lead the UAW Ramp Program with United Way and have taken part in the Genesee County Sheriff's Department Gift Giveaway. In 2025, I was proud to receive the Nick Vuchovich Award, which is Genesee County's highest honor for community service.
In my personal time, I enjoy riding and working on motorcycles and traveling across the United States by RV with my roommate Dawn.
I believe our union is strongest when every member has a voice and someone is willing to stand up for them. If elected, I will continue to serve with dedication, compassion, and a commitment to representing all members fairly.
